Strikeforce: Barnett vs. Cormier Walkout Shirts

Following the crowning of a new Heavyweight Grand Prix champ in Daniel Cormier, and a lightweight championship battle between Gilbert Melendez and Josh Thomson, here’s a look at a few of the walkout shirts that were worn at Strikeforce: Barnett vs. Cormier. New styles included Cormier’s signature DC walkout shirt from TrauMMA, as well as Melendez’s “El Nino” signature tee by TapouT. Outfitting Thomson for his match against Melendez, RYU had “The Punk” representing in the RYU Signature tee, paired up with the Tanto Compression shorts and Warrior Hoodie from the Spring 2012 RYU Clothing collection. Leading up to Gilbert Melendez’s lightweight title defense against Josh Thomson during the Strikeforce 40 co-main event, here’s a closer look at the reigning champ’s “El Nino” walkout tee from TapouT. Riding a six fight win streak as he heads into his rematch against Thomson, Melendez will be representing TapouT with his newest signature T-shirt shown below, which brings together the classic fight wear brand’s mottos “B3LI3VE” and “To Quit Does Not Exist” on the front, with a matching circular graphic on the lower back.

Fighter Faves: Jim Miller

One of the best lightweight fighters in the game and a leading face for the TapouT #MYFIGHTMATTERS campaign, there’s no question Jim Miller is one of the toughest guys around. Whenever you hear “Bad Moon Rising” hit the speakers, you know Miller’s about to step inside the Octagon to battle it out. But along with his appreciation for CCR walkout music, ever wondered what else Miller likes best besides competing inside the cage? From fight wear brands, to training gear, to movies, cars and more, check out these ten quick questions with the New Jersey native to find out what gets Jim Miller going both inside the gym and out.

Favorite fight wear brands?

Tapout and Venum. This isn’t fight wear but my “go to” hat is the camo bass pro shops cap.

What fight gear do you use to train?

Venum shorts and gloves / Tapout compression shorts and shirt.

Favorite music to workout to?

I don’t need to have music on when I workout, but when I do it’s a mix of all the types that I normally listen to. Country, rock, 80′s stuff…anything with a good beat.

Dream car?

I really don’t have a dream car. I like American muscle cars more than anything – 60′s or 70′s Camaro, El Camino or Chevelle. I really want a military truck though. A Deuce and a half, that would be awesome.

Any idols or heroes?

My parents and siblings are the people that I look up to most. They have all helped make me into the man I am today and are all amazing people.

The best MMA fight you’ve ever seen?

There are so many good ones. Recently, I’d have to go with Henderson vs. Shogun. World class technique for 25 minutes.

Favorite walkout song?

“Bad Moon Rising” by CCR. I think I probably get more fired up when I hear Dan’s song though, “Run Though The Jungle”.

Favorite movies or TV shows?

Red Dawn and The Walking Dead.

What fuels you besides fighting?

Learning new skills.
